The best way for a woman to detect if she's pregnant (and the most foolproof) is for her to go to her doctor and get a blood test. There they look for the presence of HCG, Human chorionic gonadotropin. My understanding is it can be done as early as when a period would be due but double check with your doctor.

How would I feel if I were told I'm pregnant at my regular check up? Shocked. Surprised.
I had a tubal ligation (a sterilization procedure for people who can get pregnant) 15 years ago so that would mean that my Fallopian tubes would have self-healed to enable an ovum to pass through and get fertilized by sperm.
