Alternate title: “New Year, Same Me. *TaDaaa*
Happy New Year!
Can you believe it’s 2019? Now begins open season on the 2020 vision jokes.
Do you set New Year’s Resolutions? I used to. Even set some last year as well. And then I realized about ⅓ of the way through the year; I ignore them like dick pics (seriously, never send those without consent).
Instead of resolutions, this year I made “intentions” – kind of like a “word for the year.” Last year, my focus for the year was “SELF-LOVE.” I intended to stay with it for 2019 as well – it was really good to practice self-care for a full year – but as I meditated, seated on my zafu cushion in my living room on this on New Year’s Day, welcoming whatever word would show up for 2019, “BALANCE” came through loud & clear!!
It wasn’t a word I would consciously choose, though. In fact, I was like, “really?” and hoped for a new word. Then, while my eyes were closed, I envisioned this word spelled out letter by letter. I thought, Well, okay then, and it became my assigned word for this year. I’m glad my inner guide has my back.
I’m still not entirely sure, what balance is supposed to look like for me though. I struggle with the whole work-life balance thing as it is. I tend to put all my eggs in one basket, and everything else doesn’t get its fair share of my time and attention. Alternately, I have 10 equally important projects to tackle and—because I suffer from perfectionism— nothing goes out. Is anyone else like this? Anyway, balance is going to be a good thing for me to practice.
Besides setting intentions instead of resolutions, I’m doing some big things differently this year though.
First, Q1 this year, I’m finally “giving birth” to my babies, figurative babies. I am wrapping up a release of my fabulous new website at www.themamasutra.net and I’m releasing my own parenting book (a long time coming #notasexjoke).
Second, despite LOVING the opportunity to teach students in the Working Adult Degree Program in my professor position with City College of San Francisco (how I parted ways with University life is a long story. Suffice to stay, I’m excited to create my own courses on my own platform), I’m setting out to do what I was doing there HERE. Well, online that is. And I have a couple different ideas for that.
But to do that, I’m going to need your help… if you’re willing.
What two questions do you have about sex or sexuality that you would like to know more? Think of it this way – If you were able to have time to sit privately with a human sexuality professor/sexologist and chat, what would be the top two things you’d want to cover? What do you need help with?
(Ideally, give me topics you struggle with talking openly and honestly with your kids – like porn, gender, anatomy, “virginity”, etc – but, you could also name a personal issue, too.)
I’ve never done a class online before but based on feedback I’ve been getting recently, it’s time I did.
If you would like to see me put together a class FOR PARENTS about the hot topics parents have to teach their kids, then write back to me. Just click here and let me know.
Well, that’s it for now. Stay tuned for more updates as things are released.
